Sagamore colt continues win streak in Bachelor Stakes at Oaklawn Park;

Victory marks first career stakes win for Sagamore Head Trainer Horacio De Paz

Glyndon, Md. (April 13, 2017) – Sagamore Racing’s Recruiting Ready today captured his first career stakes win, dominating the competition in the 30th running of the $150,000 Bachelor Stakes at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Arkansas. The three-year-old colt comes by retired horse racing phenomenon Algorithms, who remained undefeated throughout his two-year career. Today’s victory also marks the first career stakes win for Sagamore Racing’s head trainer Horacio De Paz.

Breaking from inside in the No. 1 post, the three-year-old colt by Algorithms, out of Need, by Strong Hope jumped out to an early lead in the six furlong contest and never looked back. Rounding the turn into the final furlong, jockey Horacio Karamanos motioned Recruiting Ready to pick up the pace, as the pair cruised to a five and a half-length victory.

Today’s victory positions Recruiting Ready to compete on Preakness Day at Pimlico Race Course. Prior to today, the three-year-old colt recently captured a victory in an Allowance Optional Claiming at Laurel Park on March. To date, the colt posts an 8-3-1-2 career record.
