Laurel, Md. — In an exhilarating wire-to-wire race, Tizgale, under Jockey Javier Santiago, cruised to a victory in Race 8 at Laurel Park on November 5. At the start, the three-year-old filly broke a step slow, but recovered quickly to become the flying leader. She burst away and opened up, accelerating past inside rivals. After going clear, she set a solid pace along the rail. With a quarter of a mile left, Tizgale was racing well with a steady lead. Going into the stretch, Previous Honor eased out and kept on gamely to bridge the gap. Tizgale finished 1st by 1 length over Previous Honor.

“We are happy for the Sagamore Racing crew and proud of their perseverance through a win drought,” said Sagamore Racing General Tom Mullikin. “Tizgale was full of run yesterday. She’ll get the winter off, but we’re already looking forward to an exciting ’15 campaign.”

Coming off of a third place finish in the Jameela Stakes at Laurel Park on September 27, this was Tizgale’s second win in 2014. In her first start of the year, Tizgale secured a victory in Race 5 at Gulfstream Park on February 6. Tizgale was the first horse featured in Sagamore Racing’s Naming Contest, as Sagamore Racing fans helped select her name.
