Foaling season at Sagamore Farm has arrived! At 7:10 am on January 9, Charm City Girl gave birth to our first foal of 2017, a beautiful filly by Uncle Mo! She is Charm City Girl’s first foal and will be part of the 5th crop of foals for champion sire, Uncle Mo.
Charm City Girl was sired by multiple Grade 1-winning millionaire Pioneerof the Nile (out of Charming Toutsie by Storm Cat) in Kentucky, and was purchased by Sagamore as a Yearling. In 2015, Pioneerof the Nile sired Triple Crown champion American Pharoah.
Uncle Mo (by Indian Charlie out of Playa Maya, by Arch) went undefeated in his 2YO season in 2010 winning the Grey Goose Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at Churchill Downs, Champagne Stakes at Belmont Park, and Maiden Special Weight at Saratoga. As a record breaking Champion Freshman sire in 2015, arguably the most successful ever, his first-crop (3YO’s of 2016), includes Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist.
“The 2016 foaling season is off to a great start,” commented Hunter Rankin, President of Sagamore Racing. “We’re so pleased to welcome an Uncle Mo filly out of Charm City Girl to the Sagamore family. She’s doing great and of course, with Uncle Mo as the sire, we get the chance to dream a little bit about her future.”
