Earlier this week we welcomed our 5^th foal of the season! Born on February 17 at 9:37pm, this colt is by First Defence out of Dictate the Tempo. First Defence’s racing career between 2006 and 2008 included winning the Jaipur Stakes at Belmont Park. Dictate the Tempo is one of our most experienced broodmares, as she welcomes her fourth foal to Sagamore Farm!

Her first was 3YO colt Quoth the Raven, named by the public naming contest two years ago, and is currently training in Florida. Her 2YO filly, Do You Like That, and yet to be named yearling colt are currently here at Sagamore Farm.

Foaling season truly is an exciting time for our entire team. Our Broodmare Division team especially loves this time of year. Debbie Moorefield says, “Everybody is anxious to see new arrivals!” and as Ihor Ihnatenko explains it, “You see them grow. It’s like a a blooming flower.”
