2020 Maryland Renaissance Awards
Team Sagamore and the entire Maryland Thoroughbred Industry celebrated an amazing 2019 at the Renaissance Awards Tuesday night in Baltimore. This was the third annual Maryland Thoroughbred Industry Renaissance Awards where the top Maryland owner, trainer, jockey, breeder, broodmare and stallion, as well as the champion Maryland-breds of 2019 are recognized. The Renaissance Awards were created to recognize the best of Maryland racing and breeding from the previous year and are a cooperative effort between the Maryland Horse Breeders Association, Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association and Maryland Jockey Club.
Sagamore Farm was extremely proud and honored to be recognized as Maryland Breeder of the Year! Sagamore was the leading breeder of Maryland-breds by earnings last year. Sagamore bred runners made 219 starts, recording 34 wins, 36 seconds and 36 thirds. We are grateful to everyone that works hard for Team Sagamore everyday and makes it possible for us to make Maryland proud! Sagamore won this award thanks in large part to SHARING who was the big winner of the evening!
Sagamore Farm bred and raised SHARING (Speightstown – Shared Account) took home Maryland Bred Horse of the Year, Turf Runner of the Year and 2yo Filly of the Year. SHARING is owned by Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners and Gainesway Stables and trained by Graham Motion. Sharing broke her maiden at Saratoga, won the Selima Stakes at Laurel Park and won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Santa Anita to finish out her first year of racing. Sharing is the daughter of Shared Account, who won the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf for Sagamore Farm and Graham Motion in 2010. Our team who foaled and raised SHARING were in attendance making the evening even more special. We couldn’t be more proud of SHARING and we are thrilled she has wonderful connections for her racing career!
