Horses to Watch

“When we own a horse at his/her retirement stage, we have a duty to the health and happiness of that horse. In these situations, we always try to make the best decision for each individual horse.”

– Hunter Rankin, President of Sagamore Racing

Retired Horses

Thoroughbred Aftercare

When Sagamore racehorses reach retirement, our team works together to determine the next steps for each horse. Many horses are suited for second careers in a variety of riding disciplines. We call our program Next Move.

Sagamore Racing is a proud partner of the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance and supports their efforts to accredit and fund organizations that provide aftercare for Thoroughbreds. We also proudly support the Retired Racehorse Project who work to facilitate placement of Thoroughbred ex-racehorses in second careers by increasing demand for them in equestrian sports and serving the farms, trainers, and organizations that transition them.
